Inter and Milan are reportedly locked in a battle for the signature of Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, with a decision expected soon.

The Rossoneri were believed to be close to signing the 22-year-old, with Adriano Galliani meeting with the player in Monaco.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio reports a Milan derby for the player, with Inter still in the hunt for Kondogbia.

Sky reports that Beneamata Coach Roberto Mancini personally telephoned the Monaco man, attempting to convince him to join Inter.

It’s reported the player has opened up to the possibility of moving to the Nerazzurri, and while the Diavolo are still confident of landing the player, the two are now in competition for his signature.

Milan’s strategy risks falling apart, as Inter have Geoffrey Kondogbia, are ahead for Giannelli Imbula and Atletico Madrid can get Jackson Martinez.

The summer began with such promise and a huge boost to their finances with the investment of Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol.

Porto have said they’ll sell the player to anyone who matches the €35m price-tag.

As the forward is currently in Chile on Copa America duty with Colombia, Milan have not yet been able to perform a medical.

It’s reported Atletico Madrid are ready to dive in and sign the contract without the medical, therefore pushing ahead of the hesitant Rossoneri.

As for Inter, there’s also the question of who will be sacrificed to make way for all these new midfielders? The likely candidates for an exit are Mateo Kovacic to Liverpool or Fredy Guarin to Galatasaray or Fenerbahce.

Geoffrey Kondogbia has reportedly already signed for Inter, as Monaco get €35m and his wages are worth almost €5m per season.

The midfielder had also been in advanced negotiations with Milan, but the Nerazzurri made a decisive surge forward after talks that went through the night and resumed this morning.
